Artistic Profile

The focus of Gunther Schumann's artistic work is on narrative drawing and experimental urban art. Many of his creative projects are characterized by an interdisciplinary approach. In 2016 he realized the music video "Die Grauen Herren", which shows costumed performers in a stylized environment made entirely of cardboard. The four-minute short film was presented at several national film festivals. Another example of his experimental approach is his project "Street Comic”. It was realized within a grant from the Saxony-Anhalt Art Foundation and the Goethe-Institute Salvador de Bahia. This eight-minute animated film. Street Comic" combines street art techniques with traditional stop-trick puppet animation. His current project "City Loops" deals with the scarcity of creative and living space in large cities and is designed as a traveling exhibition. It features around 30 large-format wooden panels that have already been exhibited throughout Germany at various urban locations.
